Jean F. Rivera-Pérez, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Davies School of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences at Texas Cristian University. Dr. Rivera Pérez has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education from Universidad de Puerto Rico en Humacao, a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from Universidad del Turabo in Puerto Rico, and a Ph.D. degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from University of Cincinnati.
His academic interest and areas of expertise include bilingual development, biliteracy, vocabulary intervention/instruction, second language theories, assessment and treatment of bilingual (Spanish/English) preschool children, and cultural and linguistic considerations in Communication Sciences and Disorder.
In the Davies School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Dr. Rivera Pérez teaches graduate and undergraduate courses related to bilingual assessment and intervention and cultural and linguistic considerations in communication sciences and disorders. Dr. Rivera Pérez collaborates in research with Fort Worth ISD, professionals, and parents to serve bilingual children with language disorders.
